Homewood Telecommunications Voice Mail Setup Sheet The voice mail system requires initialization to function properly and requires approximately five minutes of your time. To begin the process, dial the main number of voice mail(x68580) from your office phone. The voice mail system will respond by introducing itself and will prompt you through the initialization. Prompt 1: Enter the password assigned by the system manager. This password is the same as your five digit extension number…..6XXXX if your office is at Homewood or 7XXXX if your office is at Eastern Prompt 2: Enter a new password of your own choosing, This password must be at least five digits long and is entered on the phone keypad. Prompt 3: Record your name. NOTE- This is not your personal greeting. Speak your name into the handset. Prompt 4: Record your personal greeting. What you would like callers to hear when they reach your mailbox. (This can always be changed at a later time.) The system responds with a few closing remarks and deposits you at the main menu. The voice mail box is now initialized and ready for use. To leave the system press the * key until the system says goodbye, the hang-up your phone. Once initialization is complete and you can access the voice mail system from any telephone…either on or off campus To access the JHU voice mail system from your office telephone dial x68580 and follow the prompts. To access the JHU voice mail system from a telephone outside of the system, such as from your home telephone or your cell telephone…. - Dial 410-516-8580. When the system answers, press the * key and follow the system prompts.
