Homewood Telecommunications Voice Mail Networking

The Voice Mail Networking capability allows users to initiate and forward voice mail messages between the Homewood and JHMI Voice Mail systems, and the Homewood and Montgomery County Voice Mail systems. The Montgomery County to JHMI link is under construction.

STEP ONE: DIAL INTO YOUR VOICE MAIL SYSTEM
To use Voice Mail Networking, the user must first enter the voice mail system associated with their particular telephone system.

Homewood users:

  • Dial the VM access number- extension 68580
  • If calling from outside the system, access the VM system by dialing 410-516-8580

For JHMI users:

  • Dial the VM access number -extension 51500
  • If calling from outside the system, access the VM system by dialing 410-955-1500

For Montgomery County users:

  • Dial the VM access number -extension 7001
  • If calling from outside the system, access the VM system by dialing 301-294-7001

STEP TWO: LOGON YOUR VOICE MAIL SYSTEM

Logon by entering your personal password if calling from your campus telephone number or enter the "star" key, your telephone number and password if calling from a telephone other than your own. You will be prompted for these entries by the system.

Once into the system, you have full access to all system features, including the Networking capability.

STEP THREE: RECORD THE MESSAGE AND DIAL THE MAIL BOX

HOMEWOOD TO JHMI
To initiate a message TO a mail box on the JHMI system from Homewood:

  • dial 2
  • listen for the prompt
  • record the message
  • hit the "#" key
  • listen for the prompt
  • dial either "1155" followed by the 10 digit JHMI mail box number
    OR
    the 10 digit JHMI mail box number directly (i.e. 410 614 1234)
  • you will hear a message from the JHMI system confirming the destination
  • follow the prompts from that point

JHMI TO HOMEWOOD
To initiate a message TO a mail box on the Homewood system from JHMI:

  • dial 2
  • listen for the prompt
  • record the message
  • hit the "#" key
  • listen for the prompt
  • dial "6" plus the 5 digit Homewood mail box number; remember Homewood extensions begin with either a "6" (i.e.61234) or a "7" (i.e. 71234) therefore you will be dialing either "6"+"6XXXX" or "6"+"7XXXX to send the message
  • you will hear a message from the Homewood system confirming the destination
  • follow the prompts from that point

HOMEWOOD TO MONTGOMERY COUNTY
To initiate a message TO a mail box on the Montgomery County system from Homewood:

  • dial 2
  • listen for the prompt
  • record the message
  • hit the "#" key
  • listen for the prompt
  • dial "114" and the 4 digit Montgomery County mail box number
  • you will hear a message from the Montgomery County system confirming the destination
  • follow the prompts from that point

MONTGOMERY COUNTY TO HOMEWOOD
To initiate a message TO a mail box on the Homewood system from Montgomery County:

  • dial 2
  • listen for the prompt
  • record the message
  • hit the "#" key
  • listen for the prompt
  • dial "6" plus the 5 digit Homewood mail box number remember Homewood extensions begin with either a "6" (i.e.61234) or a "7" (i.e. 71234) therefore you will be dialing either "6"+"6XXXX" or "6"+"7XXXX to send the message
  • you will hear a message from the Homewood system confirming the destination
  • follow the prompts from that point

FORWARDING MESSAGES

To FORWARD a message from any of the three locations, the process is essentially the same.

Enter and log-on to your Voice Mail Systems as described above.
After listening to the message you want to forward, hit "6" and follow the prompts.

The remainder of the process is identical to initiating a message using the "2" option.

REPLYING TO MESSAGES

To REPLY to a message from any of the three locations, the process is essentially the same.

Enter and log-on to your Voice Mail Systems as described above.
After listening to the message you want to reply to, hit "8" and follow the prompts.

The remainder of the process is identical to initiating a message using the "2" option.
