JShare 7.1 Upgrade

On Thursday, February 12, 2009, a new version of JShare will be available and features a fresh new look and feel.

Please note that JShare will be unavailable between the hours of 11:00 p.m. on February 11, 2009 through 7:00 a.m on February 12, 2009.

Online documentation is available now.

Some highlights available in 7.1 include:

The Dropbox
A new Dropbox feature was added to allow users to collect content from a specified set of users in a controlled way.  A drop box is effectively the electronic equivalent of a professor who asks his or her class to complete an assignment and place it under his or her door by a certain date.  Roles exist in the system to model the professors as well as the students.

Automatic Trash Content Purging
The Xythos administrator can set up the system to automatically purge content after it has been in a Trash can folder for more then a specified number of days.  Users can effectively manage and access the content in those trash cans over time without weeding through years of stale data.

Display of Deletion Metadata
The Document Manager will now display the deleted by, deleted date, and deleted from information for files in the trash. This will help users find a specific file and know who deleted it when and from where.

One Click Restore with Full Metadata
Users can now restore a deleted file or folder from the trash with one click, returning it to the original location with all of the metadata, permissions, etc restored with the file or folder.

New Move Permissions and Ownership Assignment Option
A new option in 7.1 has been added for how the owner of a file is determined. This option also changes the handling of permissions when moving files as well.  Setting this option guarantees that when users move files, they will not lose the ability to access those files.

My Tickets Listing
A new My Tickets screen has been added under Reports and Tools which allows a user to view, edit and delete all of their tickets.

Metadata in Folder and File Listing
Version 7.1 allows adding of additional properties as columns in the file and folder listing grid in the web view. It also allows both a user default and folder specific column settings. Any property, including classification properties, can be added. In addition a folder can have a view saved on it so all users will see that view. This is useful for folders with specific content to allow user to browse by classification metadata rather then normal metadata.
