JH Enterprise Authentication utilizes Computer Associate’s SiteMinder product; SiteMinder is a Web access management software solution that provides centralized security services for managing user authentication and access to Web-based applications. Specifically, SiteMinder provides centralized policy-based control of user authentication, authorization, audit, and single sign-on to Web applications. We have also implemented Shibboleth and ADFS as alternatives to using SiteMinder. Please contact the Enterprise Authentication team at enterpriseauth@jhmi.edu for more information. SiteMinder will provide Web authors with a consistent method to authenticate users stored in JHED without having to write expensive and time consuming custom code. SiteMinder also integrates with our Active Directory environment, JHED users can be placed into new or existing AD groups for authorization. Web site administrators interested in utilizing SiteMinder should contact the Johns Hopkins Enterprise Directory team for information regarding SiteMinder integration. Once a Web page is protected by SiteMinder, users will be required to provide their JHED credentials to the SiteMinder system. Enter the URL or click on a saved link just as you normally would. The system will redirect you to the JH Enterprise login page. Enter your JHED credentials and click “Login”, if the user ID and password are correct you will be automatically redirected to the resource you requested. If the user ID or password is incorrect you will be prompted to re-enter the information. Once you’re logged in, re-authentication to other SiteMinder protected Web pages is normally not required. Try it now. Use your JHED ID to login to the test site. |
