Patient Portal Kiosk

Brief Description

The Patient Portal Kiosk (PPK) application is a web based vendor application that will provide an alternate mechanism for checking-in patients by utilizing self services kiosks or a patient poral that can access remotely via the Internet.  The selected vendor is Vecna Technologies (www.vecna.com)

Objectives exist for the Organization and the Patient.

Enable the Organization to

  • Automate manual processes and repetitive tasks
  • Diminish patient registration times
  • Improve current workflows, streamline operational processes
  • Improve accuracy of patient data
  • Automate co-pay collections and outstanding balances

Improve Patient Satisfaction:

  • Decrease wait times
  • Protect patient privacy
  • Provide multilingual access
  • Provide directions
  • Enable patients to provide feedback

Completed Functionality includes:

Phase I

  • Multi Language Support
  • Patient Queueing - Patient can be called by # assigned at checkin or by name.
  • Patient Identification via Drivers Licenses, Credit Cards, Appointment Letter Bar Codes, Data Input by Patient.
  • Wayfinding
  • Appointment Itinerary
  • Patient Data Verification
Accomplishments - August 2009
  • New version of Wayfinding was developed and accepted by the First Floor Staff.  This was implemented late July 2009.  Design changes include ability to find a location by building or specialty.
Phase 2 Implemented on July 23rd in Urology
  • Patient can update Address and Phone Number
  • Outpatient Agreement Form Completion and Automated Upload to the Enterprise Document Managment System.
  • Electronic Signature Capture - I Accept.
  • Scanning of Insurance Card and Drivers Licence
  • Scanning Capability of MRN on Smart Source Appointment Letter.
