[Back to Index]
When you enable Outlook 2007's Instant Search feature, Windows Desktop Search returns no search results when you search for email items. However, this problem can be solved. In order to resolve these search problems, follow the following steps: 1) Click Start, click Run, type "C:\Windows\system32\fixmapi.exe" and click OK. 2) Login to the computer and select Control Panel - Indexing Options. Select Modify and uncheck Microsoft Outlook Express for any identities listed (leave all Microsoft Outlook entries checked). Once all Outlook Express entries are unchecked, click OK.
3) Next, you will need to rebuild your computer's index catalog. In order to do this, follow these steps: - In the Control Panel, double-click Indexing Options.
- In the Indexing Options dialog box, click Advanced.
- Click the Index Settings tab, then click Rebuild.
- Click OK when you are prompted to rebuild the indexed locations on the computer.
- Click Close to close the Indexing Options dialog box.
*The re-index should take 15 minutes to 1 hour to complete. 4) Restart the computer. |
