Microsoft Exchange @ Johns Hopkins

For over a decade, GroupWise has been one of the most widely used email & calendaring systems for employees/faculty/staff throughout Johns Hopkins. While GroupWise has served Johns Hopkins well, the need to keep current with technologies that provide both increased functionality and closer alignment with other institutional information technology initiatives has prompted a migration away from GroupWise. As a result GroupWise will be replaced by Microsoft Outlook/Exchange v2007.

Over the coming months, departments/divisions will be migrated from GroupWise on a scheduled basis. Information in your GroupWise account (email, calendar, address books, etc) will be moved to the new email application and GroupWise software installed on your computer will be replaced with Microsoft Outlook v2007. Access to your Exchange v2007 email account will also be made available through the use of Outlook Web Access (OWA). Using OWA with Microsft Internet Explorer (v6.0 or higher) can offer a practical and usable alernative to the Outlook v2007 client software.

As the migration date for your department/division becomes closer, you will receive specific information on what you need to do to prepare for the migration as well as the date on which your email account will move. We are working closely with IT support staff throughout Johns Hopkins to ensure the transition is as smooth as possible.
