Mac OS X Mail 2.x

  1. Start Mac Mail. 
  2. Choose the Mail menu and select Preferences.
  3. Click on the Accounts options at the top
  4. Highlight the account on the left side and click on the Account Information tab at the top
  5. Enter the following information- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.johnshopkins.edu
  6. Recommended: Click on the Server Settings button and enter the following information to configure the outgoing SMTP server: 
    • Server name should already be populated
    • The port should remain the default 25
    • Check the box for Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
    • Authentication: Password
    • User Name: Enter your JHED login ID.
    • Password: Enter your JHED password.
  7. Click on OK
  8. Close the Preferences window and now you should be able to send email.
