Secure Eudora for Mac NOTE: Eudora 6.x does not support SSL for Mac OS 8.x, 10.0.x, or 10.1.x, these instructions are for Mac OS 10.2.x - Start Eudora.
- Go to the Special menu and click Settings
- Username: Your email account username
- Mail Server: The mail server you use to retrieve your email
- Real Name: Your name as you want it to appear in messages you send
- SMTP Server: smtp.johnshopkins.edu
- Email Address: Your preferred return address (ex: myalias@jhu.edu)
- Click the Sending Mail icon. The recommended settings are:
- Email Address: Your preferred return address (ex: myalias@jhu.edu)
- Default Domain: (i.e. jhu.edu or jhmi.edu)
- SMTP Server: smtp.johnshopkins.edu
- Allow Authentication: Check
- Immediate Send: Check
- Send on Check: Check, if desired
- Scroll down on the left side until you see SSL and click the icon:
- SSL for SMTP: Required (TLS)
NOTE: It is best to set this when you will be using our SMTP servers off-campus
- The rest of the settings can be set at your discretion
- Click OK when finished
- Upon first mail check/send, you may receive a message that the SSL Certificate is not in your Keychain. Click Yes to add it to your Keychain. If the "Unknown SSL Certificate" window appears, choose Open. Then "Add Certificate" and make sure the Add to Keychain is checked and set "Always Trust".
- Click OK.
