Instructions for GW Client Download and Setup

** If you are a part of a managed computer network at Hopkins, please consult with your LAN Administrator before installing the GroupWise client. **

Overview for Windows versions. Windows versions of the GroupWise software can be downloaded below as self-extracting ZIP folders (Win32 compatible). Download the compressed archive file into an empty folder on your workstation, then open the file to unpack the contents of the GroupWise client installation files. Finally, the SETUP.EXE program needs to be run to install the client.

  1. On the desktop workstation, create an empty folder to accept the archive file you will download.
  2. Click on the appropriate link below to download the GroupWise client version of your choice. Direct your web browser to save the archive file into the folder you created in the step above.  Check to make sure you have enough free disk space for the compressed download file as well as the extracted files.
  3. Navigate to that folder and open (double-click) the self-extracting archive file you downloaded. A dialog box will open on your desktop to unpack the archive. You will be prompted to close the dialog box when the unpacking process is finished.
  4. Now run the SETUP.EXE program contained in the WIN32 subfolder of the folder you originally created.
  5. After GroupWise client installation is complete, you may delete the folders containing the GroupWise installation files and the self-extracting archive file.

For more information on the Groupwise 6.5 client, please visit the User Information Page.
Training for JHMI users is also available.

Overview for Macintosh versions. Macintosh versions of GroupWise client software available for download below have been packed into .bin files.

After downloading a .bin file on a Macintosh, double-click on it to unpack it. Or, use StuffIt Expander® by Aladdin Systems, Inc. (408-761-6200, http://www.aladdinsys.com/) to access the file's contents. StuffIt Expander is available as a freeware product.
