Overview of wireless device integration with GroupWise PDA devices purchased though the corporate phone plans offered by Cingular and Verizon can be integrated with the Hopkins GroupWise email system. This provides the following capabilities: Near real-time delivery of email messages to the handheld device with encrypted data transmission Two-way synchronization of email message status information (i.e. messages marked as read, unread, or deleted) Over-the-air synchronization of GroupWise calendar changes Address book synchronization with all GroupWise personal address books
This service is provided at a cost of $20.50 per month. Please read through the Checklist and Support information then fill out the NotifyLink New Account Request Form to activate service. Checklist: Please use the following checklist to ensure that your device is ready for setup. Obtain a handheld device either independently or through the JHU Telecom group The device must be setup on the Corporate Wireless Service Plan through Cingular or Verizon You need to have a Groupwise email account Ensure that your LAN Admin has been notified that you will be setting up the device for wireless synchronization
New Account Request Form Please read through and acknowledge the following Support statement before submitting the Request Form. Support for GroupWise integration with handheld PDA devices is provided in conjunction with departmental/divisional LAN support personnel. The ability to fulfill this request might vary depending on departmental support of this type of device. New Account Request Form: ***All new accounts will be created on the GroupWise Mobile Server*** How to activate the handheld device (Phone and Voicemail) - Verify that the antenna is turned ON and there is a GPRS or 1X symbol in the upper right-hand corner
- You should automatically recieve a Welcome message stating that your device has been registered
- Verizon devices require that you call *228 from the device and follow the prompts to complete activation
- Once the device has been activated you must call Customer Service to get the voicemail setup
