MCP Introduction

Apple Notebooks

Dell Notebooks

The Mobile Computing Program (MCP) aims to provide the best possible technical support environment for students by promoting the purchase of standardized systems.  If you're planning to buy a computer and haven't yet, here is why we recommend this program:
  • Special pricing not likely to be matched elsewhere for comparable configurations.
  • High-quality, durable models provide computing power for years after purchase.
  • Most models offer a three year warranty, and three year insurance coverage against accidental damage (such as screen breakage -- often not covered under a standard computer warranty).
  • All models offer wired and wireless networking capability.

    U-Vault Online Backup Available!

  • Hopkins IT staff have pre-loaded software and services that students use at Hopkins. This helps get them up and running more quickly.  Pre-installed antivirus software and managed Windows security updates help keep them that way.
  • Students can receive computer application and troubleshooting support in the Krieger Hall Computing Lab on the Homewood campus.
  • On-site warranty and repair services for MCP systems are provided by Technical Assistance in Garland Hall on the Homewood campus.
  • While a student's MCP system is being repaired, they may borrow a loaner system. This service is exclusively offered only to MCP purchasers. (NOTES: Loaner systems are not intended to be used during extended non-academic periods such as semester breaks or holidays, nor are they permitted to be removed from the vicinity of the Johns Hopkins campus.  For whatever reason, if you fail to return the loaner upon notification, your student account will be charged for the cost of the system. Also, in all cases, users must be responsible for making their own backups of data files.)
