The Desktop Computing Services group provides the Johns Hopkins Institutions with leadership, technology and services in the areas of client/server, distributed and collaborative computing. The group manages more than 5,000 PCs and 220 servers. It has active participation in computing standards efforts, projects and systems that touch nearly every aspect of the clinical, academic, administrative and research pursuits of Johns Hopkins. The group reports to the Chief Networking Officer and is guided by the NTS Strategic Plan, as well as various advisory groups and committees throughout Johns Hopkins.

A team of more than 50 information technology professionals employed by Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Hospital provide direct services to hundreds of departments and functional units throughout the Institutions. Dozens of departmental IT staff and more than 13,000 people throughout the Johns Hopkins community use products and services supported by DCS. In addition to technical leadership, the group provides client services and operational support in support of Service Excellence initiatives to its client base.
